Some children and mothers won’t reach their full potential.

For most Haitian families, earning enough to cover basic needs is an enormous challenge and accessing adequate healthcare is an even bigger issue.

As a result, 1 in 25 newborns don’t make it past the first 6 weeks of life and 1 in 10 children don’t reach age 5. Less than 40% of Haiti’s young people have completed secondary school.

Children are especially vulnerable when their primary caregivers are unable or are ill-equipped to care for them.

Only 50% of Haiti’s adults can read and write. Becoming pregnant is a dangerous endeavor. 50% of Haiti’s maternal population is at risk of dying due to childbirth and maternal causes—further reducing a child’s chances of survival.

Right now in Haiti, more than 1 million people—nearly 10% of the population—are facing famine levels of hunger.

Today, the lives of too many mothers and children are being cut short. What if there was another way?

After more than a decade working in Northern Haiti, we have proof that something entirely different is possible.

Food scarcity? Maternal mortality? Childhood’s cut short by preventable illness? It doesn’t have to be this way.

We’re committed to a different future for Haiti.
