We desire to see a world where children can thrive with their families.

Everyone deserves to thrive.

OUR VALUES

we’re here to

combat acute malnutrition in Haitian children, equip women through education and income-generation, and tackle barriers to health and wellbeing in Haitian communities

  • Second Mile Haiti is devoted to the employment and advancement of local, Haitian professionals. We take immense pride in the fact that our programs are locally-led. Unlike many NGOs, we do not maintain an office outside of Haiti; instead, nearly 100% of our team is based in Haiti, embodying our dedication to local leadership and community engagement.

Haitian Leaders

Sustainability

  • Our centers are 100% solar-powered, which means our doors stay open no matter the crisis. We maintain campus gardens where we compost and grow food. Our campuses have nurseries full of fruit trees that we share freely with caregivers and community members. By investing in local talent and locally available goods, we are able to offer our services consistently, without interruption. We are proud to be a dependable fixture in the communities were serve.

Intentional

  • Why spend donations (meant to impact Haiti) anywhere else, but Haiti? Whenever possible, we purchase the supplies we need to run our programs, here, in Haiti; including 100% of construction materials used in building, 100% of the medications used at our centers, and 100% of the food prepared in our programs.

Fuelled by Dignity, Respect, and Love.

  • We value all people equally regardless of gender, race, religion, sexuality, ethnicity, age, or background. We believe that mental, emotional, and spiritual health is just as important as physical health. We recognize that we are all interdependant and seek to distribute resources fairly and equitably.

Data-driven Responsiveness

  • We care about impact. We are intentional about collecting data to ensure that our programs are effective and sustainable. Through surveys, focus groups, and needs assessments we react in realtime feedback from beneficiaries and community members. We aren’t afraid to change course if the data points to a better way.

Partnership

  • We’re here to tackle barriers to health and wellness for Haitian communities. We believe the best way to tackle systemic problems is to work together. Our partnerships range from local health centers and the Ministry of Health to businesses and non-profits working towards similar goals.
